I am yet (even in Europe) to find a showing of that film! I’ve been thinking about it for ages and I just want to see it! I hope it gets to a mainstream platform asap!!
I’m actually a huge fan of Jane Austen. I heard years ago that Austen invented the technique of using a tab to indicate each new speaker. I’m also a huge fan of audiobooks, especially knowing that most libraries have great titles available for online loan. Finally, Northanger Abbey is the first novel I ever read from cover to cover all in one sitting. Thanks for sharing!
Superhuman? 😄 You’re a friend and a scholar! Near the end of my Jane Austen course, I started early on a Saturday morning and finished the novel at night. Of course I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner while reading, but it was fun “living” in Austen’s world. I’ve finished some audiobooks in record time too. With headphones and 1.25 speed, I can work around the house and do errands all while enjoying a great book. And since you mentioned a high quality narrator, I agree that word-for-word delivery definitely impacts the whole experience—make or break, to be honest. Thanks again for sharing, Ruby!
I am yet to get to the point of reading with that much diligence, but I can do the audiobook speed run! I’m so glad you appreciate a good audiobook reader as well! Thanks for reading (again!).
I was hoping that one of the four would be a different Austen novel, which I hope you listen to soon. You may feel Austened out, but maybe there is some form of Persuasion…?
Glad you mentioned it Jackson, those with sense (and not sensibility) would know (not to be prideful or prejudiced) that those with a strong sense of persuasion were included in the last round of reviews I did…👀
I’m glad she didn’t! You can’t possibly remember everything you’ve read here and no one should expect you to, it was a great excuse to use every Austen pun I had up my sleeves though!
Have you seen the film Jane Austen Wrecked My Life?? This post makes me wanna see it so bad aaaaaa

Thank you for reading John, I had no idea I was in the presence of a superhuman who can read an Austen novel in one sitting! That is impressive!

Too bad she didn’t write one called “Chastened”. It would be appropriate reading for me right now.

Thank you for reading! I was not expecting all the scandal, especially because it started out so chill and calm…then it devolved fast
